Now that Grant County Fire District #3 is responding to 100% of calls for Stations 30/31 out of our new station, there is now a Resident and Sleeper Program in place; as well as Saturday and Sunday work Schedules. There are specific Sign Up procedures, and they are described at the bottom of this page.

Deputy Chief Kling is in charge of setting up the rotations and organizing the work schedules. For further information, contact him and get your name on the list.

We have 5 Live-in Residents between Station 31 and Station 37. These residents are on duty on a rotational Shift Schedule every night between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. They are listed below:

  • Brandon Hooper - Station 37~Crescent Bar
  • Joe Krautschied - Station 37~Crescent Bar
  • Jason McDonnell - Main Station #31
  • Jake Lee - Main Station #31
  • Shawn Pettibone - Main Station #31

  • Along with our Live-In residents, we have 4 extra opportunities for Volunteers to work at the station, make the first trucks out on the calls, and even earn a few extra bucks to boot.

    Sleeper Program

The Night Sleeper is expected to be in the station along with the Full-time Residents from 7 pm to 7 am. They are not required to perform an extra duties, other than be ready to respond first to any calls that might occur. This program is offered 7 days a week, and the sign up sheet is located in the Decon Room, just off the Apparatus Bays.

The Day Sleeper Program is offered on Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays. These Volunteers are expected to be in the station from 7 am to 7 pm to be the first to respond to any calls that might be toned out. Sign up in the Decon Room also.

Both of these "Shifts" pay a volunteer $20 per shift worked.

    Day Time Resident

This program is offered at the same times as the Day Sleeper (listed above), Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays. This is also a 7 am to 7 pm shift.

This shift pays $10 per shift worked.

    Sat. & Sun. Work Day

This program is offered to not only keep another volunteer at the station for a first response, but also to perform tasks around the station to help our Live in residents and the Career staff. This volunteer will also be on hand to answer questions for any member of the public that might come into the station to check out the new digs.

This program is currently scheduled from July 1-Oct. 1, 2006 (dates may change). This shift pays $10 per hour and the sign up sheet is also in the Decon Room.

Remember, Sign Up sheets for all of these programs are in the Decon Room,
and you can contact Deputy Chief Kling for more info.

    Sign Up Instructions

The Sign Up sheet are located in the Decon Room. When you go to sign up for any of these programs, during the first week of the previous month that the schedule is posted, you can only sign up for 3 shifts during that first week. After everyone has had a chance to sign up for 3 shifts for the upcoming month, the schedule will be opened up for first come--first serve, fill up the rest of the shifts left.

    example below.....

To sign up for any shifts in October, the sign up sheet would become available on Friday Sept. 1. Between Friday the 1st and the following Friday the 8th, any volunteer can only sign up for only 3 shifts for the month of October. After Friday the 8th, Any volunteer can sign up for as many shifts as are left until the end of September.
